Jupiter Wagons Bags ₹1,140 Crore Railways Order; Expects ₹2,000 Crore Q4 Inflows

Jupiter Wagons has received an order worth ₹1,140 crore, including taxes, from the Ministry of Railways to manufacture and supply 2,583 BOXNHL and BOXNS wagons. The company also expects incremental order inflows of around ₹2,000 crore in Q4 FY27.
Jupiter Wagons Ltd shares rose as much as 9.36% to ₹198 apiece on the NSE in early trade on October 29, 2026, after the company announced a ₹1,140-crore order from the Ministry of Railways. The Railway Board order covers the manufacture and supply of 2,583 BOXNHL and BOXNS wagons. The order value includes taxes.
In its October 29 announcement, the company also said it expects to secure additional order inflows of approximately ₹2,000 crore in the January–March quarter of FY27. It attributed its demand outlook to procurement by Indian Railways and continuing demand from private freight operators, wagon leasing companies and core-sector customers.
Jupiter Wagons order: 2,583 freight wagons
The latest contract covers two categories of freight wagons: BOXNHL and BOXNS. These wagons are used in freight transportation, supporting the movement of bulk and other goods across the railway network.
The ₹1,140-crore figure is the total order value inclusive of taxes. The company’s announcement highlights the award as part of its ongoing participation in Indian Railways’ wagon procurement programme.
Jupiter Wagons said its private-sector order pipeline also remains strong, supported by demand from freight operators, leasing companies and core industries. This gives the company exposure to both government-led procurement and private-sector freight requirements.
Company expects ₹2,000 crore in Q4 order inflows
Jupiter Wagons expects incremental order inflows of around ₹2,000 crore in the fourth quarter of FY27, which runs from January to March 2027.
This is a management expectation, not a confirmed order award. Any additional contracts will depend on procurement decisions and the company’s ability to secure new business.
The near-term industry outlook has also been supported by a recent Ministry of Railways tender for the procurement of 5,800 BOBRN wagons. The tender represents a potential opportunity for wagon manufacturers, although it should not be counted as an order won by Jupiter Wagons unless the company announces a specific award.
Managing Director Vivek Lohia said the latest order reflected Indian Railways’ confidence in the company’s execution capabilities. He also highlighted its backward integration across castings, bogies, couplers and brake systems, with the company extending its integration efforts to wheelsets through its Odisha facility.
What investors should know
Jupiter Wagons shares climbed as much as 9.36% to ₹198 in early trade following the announcement. At 9:56 am, a separate market report placed the stock at ₹195.23 on the NSE, up 7.83% from its previous close of ₹181.05.
These are historical intraday readings, not the latest available quote for the afternoon session. The stock’s current price and percentage change should be refreshed before publication if the story is being published later in the day.
The order announcement provides a clear near-term business trigger, but the contract value should not be confused with revenue recognised immediately or the profit the company will earn. Execution schedules, costs and delivery requirements will determine how the award translates into financial performance.
The latest order, the company’s expected Q4 inflows and the Railway Board’s broader wagon procurement plans will remain key developments to monitor for Jupiter Wagons.
