GPT Infraprojects Stock Jumps 11% After Company Emerges Lowest Bidder For Rs 484 Crore Railway Bridge Contract
GPT Infraprojects Shares Jump 11% After Winning Rs 484 Crore Railway Bridge Contract

GPT Infraprojects shares rallied nearly 11% after the company was declared the lowest bidder for a Rs 484 crore railway bridge project from Rail Vikas Nigam, its second major order win in a week following a Rs 97.31 crore interlocking contract from Northeast Frontier Railway.

GPT Infraprojects shares posted their sharpest single-day rally since June this year, climbing nearly 11% on Wednesday after the company disclosed it had been named the lowest bidder for a railway bridge project valued at close to Rs 484 crore.

The stock touched an intraday high of Rs 119.13, up 10.6%, snapping a five-day losing streak in the process. It marks the stock's biggest jump since June 22, 2026, when shares had gained 11.67% in a single session. Despite Wednesday's move, the counter has still declined 2.2% over the past month, though it remains up 1.9% for the year so far, having closed higher in just two of the last ten sessions.

In a filing to the exchanges, the company said the contract involves building bridge number 544, spanning 32x65.84 metres as an open web steel girder structure over the Mahanadi river. The work falls under the construction of the third and fourth rail lines between the Nergundi and Barang section in the Khurda Road division of East Coast Railway.

The total order value stands at Rs 483.7 crore inclusive of GST, with the base contract size at Rs 410 crore before tax.

The latest order comes shortly after GPT Infraprojects announced another railway contract through its wholly owned subsidiary, Alcon Builders and Engineers Pvt Ltd.

Last week, the subsidiary was declared the lowest bidder for a Rs 97.31 crore order from Northeast Frontier Railway. The project involves providing electronic interlocking systems at 10 stations on the HDN-HUN route in the Katihar division.

Taken together, the two contracts announced within a week have a combined value of more than Rs 581 crore, including the latest Rs 483.7 crore bridge order and the earlier Rs 97.31 crore contract.

As of the end of the June quarter, promoter entities held a 69.36% stake in GPT Infraprojects, while public shareholders accounted for the remaining 30.63%, according to exchange data.

At the time of writing, shares of GPT Infraprojects were trading at Rs 119.13, up 10.6%. The stock's Wednesday rally came after five consecutive sessions of declines.

Despite the sharp intraday recovery, the stock remains below its recent levels, with a 2.2% decline over the past month. It has gained 1.9% so far in 2026.
