Diamond Power Infrastructure Gets ₹179.43 Crore Cable Contract From Adani Electricity

Diamond Power Infrastructure has received a ₹179.43-crore order from Adani Electricity Mumbai for around 871 km of specialised MV and LV cables. This is the third consecutive year the company has received a similar order from AEML.
Diamond Power Infrastructure has received a Letter of Award from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) for supplying specialised medium-voltage cables. The contract is valued at ₹179.43 crore, including GST.
The company will supply about 871 kilometres of cables under the order. The requirement includes 33 kilovolt (kV) and 11 kV medium-voltage cables, as well as 1.1 kV low-voltage cables.
The cables are being made for use in Mumbai, where the monsoon and coastal conditions can affect underground power networks.
At 11:53 AM, Diamond Power Infrastructure shares were trading at ₹387.50, up 5% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE)
Cables To Have Water-Blocking Construction
The cables will use TR-XLPE insulation, water-swellable tapes and water-blocked conductors. They will also have an HDPE outer sheath.
Diamond Power Infrastructure said the specifications are meant to deal with moisture-related issues in underground cables. Mumbai's high rainfall and saline atmosphere can increase the risk of water treeing in cable insulation.
The order value includes packing, forwarding, freight and transit insurance. The formal purchase order will be issued by AEML following the Letter of Award.
Repeat Order From AEML
This is the third consecutive year that Diamond Power Infrastructure has received an order of this nature from AEML.
The company's manufacturing setup includes catenary continuous vulcanisation (CCV) facilities and in-house testing infrastructure. It also supplies power cables to other utilities, including Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking (BEST).
Diamond Power Infrastructure manufactures power cables and transmission equipment for different applications. Its products are used in areas including infrastructure, oil and gas and renewable energy.
With the latest contract, the company will again supply AEML with cables made specifically for the conditions faced by Mumbai's underground distribution network.
