Bhavish Aggarwal Ola Electric Stake Pledge of 4.32% Holding Committed for ₹1,000 Crore Rights Issue

The proposed Ola Electric rights issue will see promoter Bhavish Aggarwal participate after pledging 4.32% of his holding. The company plans to use the proceeds for debt repayment, growth initiatives and general corporate purposes.
Ola Electric promoter Bhavish Aggarwal has pledged a 4.32% stake in the company as he prepares to participate in its proposed ₹1,000 crore rights issue. The pledge has been created specifically to finance his subscription to the issue, according to the electric two-wheeler maker’s latest regulatory disclosure.
The company clarified that the transaction does not involve a sale of shares. Aggarwal will participate in the rights issue alongside other eligible shareholders on the same terms, while Ola Electric said there are currently no other pledges on his securities.
Aggarwal individually held 26.52% of Ola Electric, or around 1.23 billion shares, as of June 2026, while the promoter group held 32.97%. Based on Ola Electric’s October 1 closing price of ₹37.08, the 4.32% stake pledged by Aggarwal was worth around ₹741 crore. However, this should not be treated as his rights-issue subscription amount since the company is yet to announce the final issue price and other terms.
Ola Electric Rights Issue Details
Ola Electric’s board approved the proposed ₹1,000 crore rights issue on September 28. The company plans to issue partly paid-up equity shares, subject to regulatory and statutory approvals. The shares will carry a face value of ₹10 each.
Several key details of the Ola Electric rights issue are still pending. These include the issue price, total number of shares to be issued, rights entitlement ratio, record date, issue period, timing and payment schedule. The board is expected to finalise the detailed terms separately, with the company set to disclose them to the stock exchanges.
The rights issue will be open to eligible shareholders as of the record date. Aggarwal’s participation will therefore form part of the broader shareholder participation in the fundraise rather than being a separate investment by the promoter.
Ola Electric Plans To Use ₹1,000 Crore Fundraise
The proposed rights issue is aimed at strengthening Ola Electric’s finances and supporting its growth plans. According to the Draft Letter of Offer, around ₹350 crore of the proceeds is proposed to be used for repayment or prepayment of debt.
Another ₹400 crore is earmarked for organic growth initiatives, while the remaining amount will be used for general corporate purposes. The allocation means a significant portion of the proposed fundraise is intended for debt reduction and business expansion.
The latest fundraise comes only a few months after Ola Electric raised ₹780 crore through a qualified institutional placement in June. That QIP, which was part of a larger ₹1,500 crore fundraising plan approved earlier, was oversubscribed by 56%.
The June QIP attracted long-term institutional investors, including Goldman Sachs and BNP Climate Fund, along with Indian mutual funds such as Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund, Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund, JM Financial Mutual Fund and Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund. Ola Electric’s Fund Raising Committee subsequently approved the closure of the QIP after receiving applications and funds from eligible institutional investors.
Ola Electric Share Price And Market Capitalisation
Ola Electric shares closed at ₹37.08 on October 1, up ₹0.16, or 0.43%, on the NSE. The stock traded between ₹36.33 and ₹37.30 during the session, while its market capitalisation stood at around ₹17,162 crore.
The stock has remained well below its 52-week high of ₹58.65, while its 52-week low stands at ₹22.25. The October 1 closing price was also about 33.6% lower than its level a year earlier.
The pledge announcement therefore adds another corporate development for investors to track as Ola Electric works through its proposed capital raise. The company’s next key disclosure will be the final terms of the rights issue, including the price, entitlement ratio, record date and payment structure.
Ola Electric’s investor-relations page has listed the September 28 board-meeting outcome on the rights issue and the company statement among its recent stock-exchange communications.
