Ather Energy Expands Beyond Electric Scooters As IRDAI Approves Its Subsidiary To Distribute Three Types Of Insurance

Ather Energy has received approval from IRDAI for its subsidiary, Ather Insurance, to distribute life, general and health insurance. The company said the move could create recurring revenue opportunities through its existing customer base.
Ather Energy Limited received regulatory approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on 15 October 2026 for its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ather Insurance Limited, to operate as a composite corporate agent.
The certificate of registration granted to the Ather Energy insurance subsidiary allows it to distribute and service life, general and health insurance products.
The electric two-wheeler maker disclosed the IRDAI approval through an exchange filing under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
A day later, on 16 October 2026, Friday, Ather Energy shares were trading at ₹1,472.90, up 0.20%, at 3:03 pm on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The previous close was ₹1,470, while the stock opened at ₹1,474.40. It touched an intraday high of ₹1,489.40 and a low of ₹1,461.20.
Ather Energy Plans And Registration Effective Date
The company said the approval would help diversify its revenue streams by using its existing customer base to create recurring income opportunities. It also expects insurance distribution and servicing to improve the experience of its customers and retail partners.
The Certificate of Registration granted to Ather Insurance on 15 October remains effective from that date, subject to payment of the annual fee, unless the regulator suspends or cancels it. The approval falls under the IRDAI (Registration of Corporate Agents) Regulations, 2015, as amended.
Product Offerings and Launch Details Are Still Pending
Ather Energy has not disclosed any specific revenue target or any expected financial contribution from the insurance business. The filing also does not give details on the intended product range, launch schedule, distribution arrangements or expected earnings.
These details will be important in assessing how the new activity may contribute to the company’s financial performance.
