TVS SCS and Japan's Sankyu signed a strategic MoU on 24 August to collaborate on supply chain and engineering services, with Sankyu intending to acquire a 0.5% equity stake in TVS SCS.

TVS Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) and Sankyu Inc, a Japan-headquartered logistics and engineering company founded in 1918, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 24 August to collaborate across supply chain and engineering services. As part of the agreement, Sankyu intends to acquire a 0.5% equity stake in TVS SCS, subject to regulatory approvals.

The two companies will explore opportunities across:

  • Logistics and warehousing

  • Transportation

  • Engineering services

  • Maintenance and on-site industrial support

A joint steering committee with representatives from both organisations will be established to identify growth opportunities, oversee strategic initiatives and develop integrated solutions.

India is the immediate priority. More than 1,400 Japanese companies operate across India's manufacturing and industrial sectors, providing the partnership with a significant potential customer base from day one. Over time, the collaboration is expected to extend into other markets across Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

TVS SCS:

  • Operations across 26 countries

  • Over 16,500 employees

  • Works with 100 Fortune Global 500 customers

  • Sectors: Automotive, industrial, consumer, technology, rail, utilities and healthcare

Sankyu:

  • Founded in Japan in 1918

  • Integrates logistics and engineering services

  • Has a strong presence across Asia

  • Deep roots in core industries including steel and petroleum

TVS SCS Chairman R Dinesh said Sankyu's engineering expertise and Japanese industrial relationships complement TVS SCS's integrated supply chain capabilities. He added that the two companies are well positioned to deliver more comprehensive solutions for manufacturing and industrial customers.

Sankyu President and CEO Kimihiro Nakamura said the two organisations share strong strategic alignment and a commitment to ethical standards. He added that the partnership would contribute to sustainable industrial development.
