Trump’s $5 Billion Gulf Energy Fund Keeps L&T, Engineers India And EPC Stocks In Focus
Trump’s proposed $5 billion Gulf energy fund puts L&T, Engineers India and EPC stocks in focus.

Trump’s proposed $5 billion Gulf energy fund has put L&T, Engineers India and other EPC stocks in focus as the region looks to rebuild and expand energy infrastructure. Engineers India has identified a potential $1 billion Gulf opportunity over the next two to three years, while L&T already has a presence across major Middle East projects.

Shares of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and energy infrastructure companies are likely to remain in focus after the Trump administration proposed a $5 billion fund to support the rebuilding of energy infrastructure in the Gulf.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Engineers India are among the Indian companies drawing attention, given their existing presence and potential project opportunities in the region.

The proposed fund is intended to support the reconstruction of energy facilities damaged during the Iran conflict and help Gulf countries develop infrastructure that reduces their dependence on the Strait of Hormuz, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Reuters said it could not independently verify the report.

The proposal, if finalised, could eventually grow to around $10 billion, with the US seeking matching contributions from eight Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq and Jordan.

The plan is still under discussion and its size and terms could change. But the proposal has drawn attention to Indian engineering and infrastructure companies that already have a presence in the Gulf and could potentially participate in a fresh wave of energy-related projects.

Engineers India has already identified a potential opportunity of around $1 billion in the Gulf over the next two to three years. The company is in discussions for projects in Saudi Arabia and the UAE involving oil pipelines, strategic storage, terminals and marine infrastructure.

The opportunity is linked to efforts by Gulf countries to strengthen energy infrastructure and develop alternative routes for transporting and storing oil and petroleum products without relying as heavily on the Strait of Hormuz.

Engineers India has also expanded its presence in Saudi Arabia, where it has an office and a long-term in-Kingdom services agreement with Saudi Aramco. The company's $1 billion figure, however, represents a potential opportunity pipeline and not confirmed orders.

L&T also has significant exposure to the Middle East's energy and infrastructure market. Its Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore business recently secured an ultra-mega gas compression project in the region, covering engineering, procurement and construction of gas compression facilities and associated infrastructure.

The company has also secured projects outside the oil and gas segment in the Gulf, including infrastructure work linked to Dubai's Al Maktoum International Airport.

The proposed US fund does not mean that L&T or Engineers India have secured new contracts. Any impact on their order books would depend on projects being approved, tendered and subsequently awarded.

The broader opportunity stems from the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global energy shipments. The conflict has disrupted energy flows and increased pressure on Gulf producers to strengthen storage, pipeline and export infrastructure.

For L&T and Engineers India, the proposed fund could mean more project opportunities in the Gulf. But there are no confirmed orders linked to the fund yet. The focus now will be on project announcements and new orders from the region.
