Tata Electronics has overtaken Foxconn to become India's largest iPhone exporter during the PLI scheme period. It shipped iPhones worth $26.3 billion between FY22 and FY26.
Tata Electronics has moved ahead of Taiwanese electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company Foxconn in the value of iPhones exported from India during the five-year production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme period, despite joining Apple's supply chain much later.
Data submitted by vendors to the government showed that Tata Electronics exported iPhones worth $26.3 billion between FY22 and FY26. That was marginally higher than Foxconn's $25.6 billion during the same period.
The numbers also show Tata Electronics has narrowed the gap with Foxconn in overall iPhone production in India, covering both exports and domestic sales. Foxconn remained the largest producer with iPhones worth $38 billion assembled during the five-year period. Tata Electronics followed closely with production worth $35.5 billion, giving it a 46.01% share of the combined production between the two companies.
Domestic Market Keeps Foxconn Ahead Overall
Foxconn retained its overall lead because of its stronger presence in the domestic market. The company assembled iPhones worth $12.4 billion for sale within India during FY22-FY26. That was nearly twice Tata Electronics' domestic production of $6.3 billion.
Foxconn began assembling iPhones for Apple in India in 2019, before the PLI scheme started. Tata Electronics entered the business much later.

Exports Dominated Apple's India Manufacturing Strategy
Exports remained the biggest driver of Apple's manufacturing operations in India during the PLI period. Government data showed exports accounted for 73.6% of the total value of iPhones assembled in the country over FY22-FY26. The remaining share came from devices produced for the domestic market.
At the same time, Apple's India business also expanded sharply. During the five-year period, iPhones worth $18.6 billion (₹176,680 crore) were sold in the domestic market. Industry growth was supported by exchange offers, discounts and rising consumer preference for premium smartphones.
