Why Are These NSE Index Changes Important For Market Participants?
Index reshuffles are observed closely because passive funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tied to certain indices tend to rebalance their holdings in advance of the effective date. This can generate index-linked buying activity in entering stocks and selling pressure in outgoing stocks, depending on liquidity and the number of assets monitoring the corresponding indices.
The September reshuffle is worth watching for those tracking NSE indices.
