Jeevan Pramaan Life Certificate: 1 October Window For 80+ Pensioners
Jeevan Pramaan opens the October Life Certificate window for pensioners aged 80 and above through digital Aadhaar-based authentication.

Pensioners aged 80 years and above can use the special October window to submit their annual Life Certificate. Jeevan Pramaan provides an Aadhaar-based digital route, including face authentication through compatible smartphones. Pensioners below 80 follow the November cycle.

The annual Life Certificate submission period is approaching for pensioners who need to establish their continued eligibility for receiving pension. The government’s Jeevan Pramaan service provides a digital alternative to submitting the certificate in person.

As of 29 September 2026, the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has not issued a fresh notification specifically announcing the 1 October 2026 window. The facility, however, is based on an existing government order.

The DoPPW introduced the early window in 2019 to give very senior pensioners more time to complete the annual requirement and avoid the November rush.

The government subsequently continued to recognise October as the special period for pensioners aged 80 and above.

Jeevan Pramaan uses Aadhaar-based authentication to generate a Digital Life Certificate. After successful verification, the system creates a unique Pramaan ID and sends the certificate electronically to the relevant pension disbursing agency.

The service can be accessed through:

  • The Jeevan Pramaan application

  • Eligible Jeevan Pramaan centres

  • Certain Citizen Service Centres

  • Participating pension disbursing agency offices

  • Smartphone-based face authentication

The face-authentication facility works on Android 10 or later and iOS 14 or later, alongside the Aadhaar Face RD service.

After authentication, pensioners receive an acknowledgement containing the Pramaan ID. The Digital Life Certificate is made available electronically, so a physical submission to the pension disbursing agency is ordinarily not required.

The certificate does not have a universal validity period. Its duration is determined by the rules of the applicable Pension Sanctioning Authority. A new certificate is needed after the prescribed validity expires.

For making a Jeevan Pramaan pensioners need to have an Aadhaar number or a Virtual ID. Also the PPO number of the pensioner is required. Details of pension account and details of pension sanctioning and disbursing authorities are also required.

Other ways of submitting a Life Certificate may still be used. Jeevan Pramaan simply adds another permitted method, subject to the pension disbursing authority.
