Dhanteras 2026 Date and Timings: Gold Buying Shubh Muhurat, Puja Time in Mumbai, Delhi and Other Cities
Dhanteras 2026 falls on November 6, with city-wise gold buying muhurat, Trayodashi Tithi and evening puja timings for major Indian cities.

Dhanteras 2026 falls on Friday, November 6, but the Trayodashi Tithi continues until Saturday morning. The festival is associated with purchases of gold, silver and jewellery ahead of Diwali. Here are the important timings for buyers and the evening puja muhurat across major Indian cities.

Dhanteras will be celebrated across India on Friday, November 6, 2026. However, the Trayodashi Tithi will continue until the morning of November 7, raising questions about the festival date and the auspicious time to buy gold and silver.

According to Drik Panchang, the Trayodashi Tithi begins at 10:30 AM on November 6 and ends at 10:47 AM on November 7. The main Dhanteras celebrations and evening puja will take place on Friday.

For Mumbai, the Dhanteras puja muhurat is from 6:35 PM to 8:35 PM. Timings differ in other cities depending on local sunset and the auspicious period.

The festival is also an important occasion for gold and silver purchases in India. Buyers traditionally visit jewellery stores for coins, ornaments and silver articles, while others choose to invest in gold through financial products.

Dhanteras is observed during the Trayodashi Tithi, which starts at 10:30 AM on Friday and continues into Saturday morning.

Although November 7 falls within the same lunar period, the main festival is observed on November 6 because the Trayodashi Tithi is present during the evening Pradosh Kaal.

For Mumbai, traditionally favourable shopping periods on November 6 include 10:31 AM to 10:57 AM, 12:22 PM to 1:47 PM, 4:38 PM to 6:03 PM and 9:13 PM to 10:47 PM, according to Navagraha's Panchang calculations.

These shopping windows are separate from the evening Dhanteras puja muhurat. The timings also vary by location and the Panchang followed.

People planning to buy gold or silver can check their city's timings before making purchases.

The Dhanteras puja muhurat falls during the evening, when Pradosh Kaal and Vrishabha Kaal overlap.

According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious puja timings on Friday, November 6, are:

  • Mumbai: 6:35 PM to 8:35 PM

  • New Delhi: 6:02 PM to 7:57 PM

  • Bengaluru: 6:25 PM to 8:20 PM

  • Chennai: 6:14 PM to 8:10 PM

  • Hyderabad: 6:15 PM to 8:13 PM

  • Kolkata: 5:28 PM to 7:26 PM

  • Pune: 6:32 PM to 8:31 PM

  • Ahmedabad: 6:30 PM to 8:28 PM

  • Jaipur: 6:11 PM to 8:07 PM

In Mumbai, Pradosh Kaal runs from 6:03 PM to 8:35 PM, while Vrishabha Kaal begins at 6:35 PM.

The festival is associated with the worship of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera. Many households also light lamps and purchase new items as part of their Dhanteras celebrations.

Gold and silver prices remain an important consideration for those planning Dhanteras purchases. The final jewellery bill depends not only on the prevailing metal price but also on purity, making charges and applicable GST.

Buyers should check the gold rate for their city, compare making charges and verify BIS hallmarking when purchasing gold jewellery.

Those who prefer financial investments may consider products such as Gold ETFs, which provide exposure to gold prices without requiring physical storage. However, Gold ETFs do not offer the same experience as purchasing jewellery or coins for traditional purposes.

With Dhanteras falling on November 6 and Diwali on November 8, gold and silver prices are likely to remain closely watched by buyers during the festive period.
