Stock Market Update 14 August 2026: Sensex Drops Over 300 Pts; Nifty 50 Below 24,350

The Indian stock market indices traded in the red during early trading on Friday. While Sensex lost nearly 300 points, Nifty 50 traded around the 24,300 mark. All sectoral indices were also trading lower.
The Indian benchmark indices were trading in the red after the market opening on Friday, 14 August 2026. This marks the fourth straight trading session when the markets have opened lower.
At around 9:17 AM, the Sensex was down by 301.17 points (0.39%) to trade at 77,778.79. The Nifty 50 was also trading lower by 73.55 points (0.30%) at 24,322.30.
On Thursday, 13 August 2026, the indices traded in a small range and closed mixed. At the closing bell, the Sensex stood at 78,079.96, up 0.15%. The Nifty 50 stood at 24,395.85, down 0.16%.
How Are Other Indices Performing?
Not just the Sensex and the Nifty 50, but other broader Indian indices were also in the red during early trading on Friday.
At around 9:20 AM, Bank Nifty was down by 95.80 points (0.17%) to trade at 57,539.95. The Nifty Financial Services index was down by around 58.35 points (0.22%) to trade at 26,269.60.
Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Auto lost 0.52%, Nifty FMCG lost 0.42%, Nifty Metal lost 1.17%, Nifty Pharma lost 0.19%, Nifty PSU Bank lost 0.24% and Nifty IT lost 0.50%.
Top Gainers And Losers
During early trading on Friday, about 1,576 shares were trading in the green, 1,185 were in the red, and 150 remained unchanged.
The top gainers on the Nifty included Apollo Hospitals, Eternal, Bajaj Finance, Adani Ports and Wipro.
The top losers were TMPV, Hindalco, Max Healthcare, Jio Financial and SBI.
