The Sensex was down by 282.09 points (0.37%) to trade at 76,982.42.

The Nifty 50 was down 114.90 points (0.48%) to trade at 24,060.75.
On Friday, 28 August 2026, both benchmark indices recovered from early losses to end higher. At the closing bell, the Sensex stood at 77,264.51, up 0.43%. The Nifty 50 stood at 24,175.65, up 0.35%.
