Indian equity benchmarks recovered from early losses in mid-session trade as gains in IT, metal and media stocks offset weakness in healthcare and realty shares despite fresh US strikes in Iran.

Indian benchmark indices recovered from early losses in the morning trade on Tuesday as buying in information technology, metal and chemical shares helped offset weakness in healthcare, consumer durables and realty stocks.

However, as the day progressed, they started moving in a narrow range and dipped slightly. At 12:31 pm, the BSE Sensex was down 0.13%. During the same time, the Nifty 50 was up by 0.0029%.

The recovery following early trade came after a weak start amid fresh geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Reports said the United States launched fresh strikes in southern Iran early Tuesday despite ongoing negotiations. The action was aimed at protecting US troops from Iranian forces, reports citing the US Central Command said.

The developments kept investors cautious across Asian markets. However, domestic equities pared losses as investors bought into select sectors.

The Nifty IT index emerged among the major sectoral gainers during the session. At 12:32 pm, the Nifty IT was up 0.5%. Media stocks also saw strong buying interest. Metal and chemical counters added support to the broader market recovery, helping benchmark indices move into positive territory after opening lower.

On the other hand, the Nifty Consumer Durables index remained under pressure. Healthcare and realty stocks also underperformed the broader market. Sectoral movement remained mixed through the morning session, indicating selective buying rather than broad-based risk appetite.

  • Awfis Space Solutions shares climbed over 9% in early trade following strong Q4 FY26 results that saw a two-fold jump in consolidated net profit.

  • Pine Labs shares jumped up to 4.5% intraday after the company declared its Q4 FY26 results.

  • Suzlon Energy shares rose 1% in early trade following the company’s rise in revenue from operations 45% YoY.

  • Indraprastha Gas shares jumped 6% in early trade after the company announced the hike in the price of compressed natural gas (CNG).

Also, several companies are expected to declare their Q4 FY26 results today, including:

Looking ahead, investors are likely to remain focused on geopolitical developments in the Middle East, which could continue to drive volatility in global and domestic markets during the afternoon session. Market participants will also keep a close watch on sector-specific momentum, particularly in IT, metals and media stocks, which supported the morning recovery.
