Sensex and Nifty 50 traded higher in afternoon deals, led by IT stocks. Dixon Technologies, HDB Financial and Angel One gained, while investors tracked West Asia developments and upcoming dividend record dates. Read more.

Benchmarks, the Sensex and Nifty 50, continued to gain momentum in afternoon trade as information technology (IT) shares gained. At 12:11 pm, the Sensex was up 0.32%, while the Nifty 50 was up 0.26% during the same time. Broader markets, however, traded mixed. At 12:13 pm, the:

  • Nifty Midcap 100 index was down 0.06%

  • Nifty Smallcap 100 index was up 0.09%

Sectorally, the Nifty IT and Nifty Consumer Durables outperformed. On the other hand, the Nifty Financial Services appeared to be under pressure.

Stocks of the following firms were the top five performers on the Nifty 50 index at 12:14 pm:

  • HCL Technologies Ltd.

  • Wipro Ltd.

  • Bajaj Finance Ltd.

  • Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

  • Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.

  • HDB Financial Services shares rose 3% in early trade after the company reported strong Q1 FY27 earnings.

  • Billionbrains Garage Ventures shares surged 2.3% in early trade after the company's consolidated net profit increased 94.44% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹735 crore.

  • Angel One shares gained 2% in early trade after the company reported a sharp jump in earnings in Q1 FY27.

  • Dixon Technologies shares rallied as much as 7% in intraday deals after the Union Cabinet approved ₹1.27 lakh crore for the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission and ₹62,500 crore for the mobile phone manufacturing scheme.

As many as 68 stocks will turn ex-record for dividends tomorrow (17 June). This means today is the last day for investors to buy them if they wish to receive dividends. Some prominent ones are given below (see table):

Investors will also monitor developments in West Asia, with geopolitical headlines expected to remain a key trigger for market sentiment and the direction of the Sensex and Nifty 50 by the closing bell.
