TCS opens the earnings season for the IT sector
TCS will become the first major IT services company to announce Q1 FY27 results on July 9, ahead of HCLTech, Wipro and Infosys later this month.
Apart from the financial performance, the market will look for updates on client spending, large deal wins, AI-led projects, hiring and the company's order pipeline. During the April-June quarter, TCS announced nine large deals, including a strategic partnership with Swedish engineering company SKF for an AI-led business transformation programme. Management commentary will also be watched for any update on demand across key international markets.
The company has already announced several strategic contract wins during the quarter across manufacturing, financial services and digital transformation. The company's commentary on deal execution, demand across North America and Europe, and the pace of AI adoption among enterprise clients will be closely followed. Since TCS is the first large-cap IT company to report each quarter, its management commentary often provides an early indication of business conditions ahead of earnings from other major software exporters.
Other companies in focus
Retail-focused investors will watch Avenue Supermarts, which operates the DMart supermarket chain, for updates on consumer demand and operating performance during the quarter. Financial services companies including L&T Finance and Anand Rathi Wealth are also expected to draw attention as investors assess trends in lending, wealth management and overall business momentum.
Along with earnings, investors will also monitor management commentary for updates on business demand, margin trends, order books, capital expenditure plans and expansion strategies. Dividend announcements and record dates, wherever applicable, are also expected to remain on the radar during the reporting season.
