Pre-Market, 27 August 2026: Weak GIFT Nifty, Nvidia Earnings And Oil Prices To Guide Trade
Weak GIFT Nifty, Nvidia earnings and oil prices set the tone for Thursday's trade.

Indian markets may open weaker on 27 August as GIFT Nifty declines, while Nvidia’s earnings, oil prices, Strait of Hormuz developments and key technical levels guide trading sentiment.

Indian equities closed lower on Wednesday, with the Nifty 50 ending below 24,250. IT stocks led the fall ahead of Nvidia’s results, while the Sensex gave up its early gains to finish in the red.

The focus now shifts to key global cues, including Nvidia's quarterly results. Meanwhile, oil prices have eased on hopes of better traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The BSE Sensex fell 183.16 points to 77,472.94, while the Nifty 50 slipped 126.80 points to 24,207.75. IT stocks were among the biggest drags, with the Nifty IT index down 1.47%.

IT stocks weakened ahead of Nvidia's quarterly results and following the US administration's proposal to impose a $103,265 fee on new H-1B visas, raising concerns about higher costs for Indian technology companies.

In US markets, the Dow Jones was down 0.21% to close at 53,463.88. The S&P 500 fell 0.02% to close at 7,675.70, while the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.08% to finish at 26,130.20.

European markets ended mixed. The FTSE 100 fell 0.07% to 10,878.12, while the CAC 40 rose 0.27% to 8,462.39.

Asian markets ended higher on Wednesday. The Nikkei 225 rose 0.62% to 66,262.16, while the Hang Seng Index gained 0.56% to 25,652.97.

On 27 August at 7:28 am, the GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,363.50, down 32.50 points, indicating a weaker start for Indian equities on Thursday.

The 24,200-24,150 zone is the immediate support area for the Nifty 50. Below this range, 24,025-24,000 remains the next important support area.

On the higher side, 24,375-24,400 is the immediate resistance zone. A decisive move above this range could take the index towards 24,500-24,600.

Nvidia’s quarterly earnings are likely to be one of the biggest global triggers for Thursday’s session. The AI chipmaker reported quarterly revenue of $96.2 billion, supported by strong demand for data centre and artificial intelligence infrastructure. Nvidia also delivered a stronger outlook, helping its shares recover after an initially mixed reaction in after-hours trading.

The results could influence sentiment towards technology and AI-related stocks globally, including Indian IT companies.

Traders will also watch oil prices and developments around the Strait of Hormuz. The GIFT Nifty and Asian markets moves will also be on the radar.
