Pre-Market 14 August 2026: Nifty Falls 40 Points; Key Cues For Friday
Sensex and Nifty showed mixed cues as GIFT Nifty, crude and US PPI remain in focus ahead of Friday’s trade.

Sensex added 114 points to 78,080, while the Nifty fell 40 points to 24,395. GIFT Nifty, crude prices and global cues remain in focus ahead of Friday's trade.

Indian equities head into Friday's session after another mixed finish. The Sensex managed a small gain, while the Nifty ended lower for a third straight session. Crude prices and developments around the Strait of Hormuz remain key factors for the market.

Thursday's trade ended on a mixed note. The Sensex added 113.61 points to finish at 78,079.96, while the Nifty 50 slipped 40 points to 24,395.85. The rupee weakened to 95.44 against the US dollar.

Sectoral performance was mixed. The Nifty Metal index fell 1.05%, while Pharma and PSU Bank stocks also ended lower. FMCG, IT and Media stocks managed to close higher.

US stocks closed higher, led by technology shares. The Dow Jones was up 0.12% to finish at 53,839.99, while the S&P 500 closed at 7,798.99, up 0.65%. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.81% to close at 26,803.03.

European markets ended lower. The FTSE 100 stood at 10,772.67, down 0.56%, while France's CAC 40 was at 8,650.56, down 0.28%.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed 1.16% to 68,308.59, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.17% to 25,396.51.

On 14 August 2026, at 8:10 am, GIFT Nifty was trading at 24,436, down 23.50 points. The contract was slightly above Thursday's Nifty close of 24,395.85, pointing to a cautious opening bias today.

  • Support: 24,350
  • Immediate downside: 24,250-24,200
  • Resistance: 24,500-24,600
  • Next upside: 24,750

The Nifty has continued to hold its 20-day EMA at 24,363 and its 200-day EMA at 24,385 on a closing basis. A decisive break below 24,350 could bring 24,250-24,200 into focus. On the other side, 24,500-24,600 remains the first hurdle for a recovery.

Wall Street's tech stocks gained overnight, while softer US producer inflation offered some support to sentiment. Oil prices, however, remained high, keeping pressure on Indian equities. US producer inflation stood at 4.7% in July, below the 4.9% expected.

Crude prices, the Strait of Hormuz and developments around US-Iran talks will also remain on the radar today.
