The benchmark remained range-bound on July 8, with Eternal leading the Nifty 50 gainers, while Jio Financial Services, IndiGo and Shriram Finance topped the losers' list.

Wednesday's trade was driven by individual stock moves rather than a broad rally across sectors. Eternal finished at the top of the Nifty 50 gainers' list, while Wipro and Hindalco Industries also closed in the green. On the other hand, Jio Financial Services, IndiGo and Shriram Finance ended among the benchmark's biggest losers.

Although the benchmark index moved within a narrow range through the session, several frontline stocks saw notable price action.

Top Nifty 50 Gainers

Eternal closed as the day's biggest gainer on the Nifty 50. Wipro followed with gains of over 1%, while Hindalco Industries, Bajaj Auto and Trent also finished higher. Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Cipla added modest gains to round off the list of the session's top performers.

None of the benchmark constituents gained more than 2%, reflecting a session where advances remained measured despite buying in select stocks.

Top Nifty 50 Losers

Jio Financial Services recorded the steepest decline among the Nifty 50 constituents. IndiGo and Shriram Finance also ended lower, followed by Hindustan Unilever and Tata Consumer Products. Maruti Suzuki and Axis Bank were among the other notable laggards during the day.

The losses were spread across financial, consumer and automobile stocks, with no single sector accounting for the entire decline.

Activity remained strong beyond the benchmark as well.

In the Nifty Midcap 100, Kalyan Jewellers India jumped 7.84% to emerge as the top gainer. Info Edge (India) gained 3.07%, while Indus Towers advanced 3.06%. FSN E-Commerce Ventures (Nykaa) and Premier Energies also featured among the gainers.

Among the losers, Suzlon Energy declined 2.83%, followed by Billionbrains Garage Ventures (Groww) (-2.18%) and Motilal Oswal Financial Services (-2.06%). Premier Energies also appeared on the losers' list in your data, so I'd verify the final exchange closing data before publishing.

In the Nifty Smallcap 100, Anant Raj rose 5.04%, followed by Ather Energy (+3.54%) and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) (+3.50%). On the downside, Aegis Logistics dropped 9.99%, while Force Motors, JM Financial and Triveni Turbine also ended with sharp losses.

The June-quarter earnings season gathers pace this week, with several large-cap companies lined up to announce their results. Quarterly numbers, management commentary and business updates are likely to keep individual stocks in focus, with investors watching for early signs of demand, margin trends and earnings growth.
