On the other hand, Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Eternal led the losers, even as declines across the benchmark remained limited.

The benchmark index witnessed broad-based buying during the session, with 42 of the 50 Nifty constituents ending in positive territory, while only seven stocks closed lower and one stock remained unchanged.

Jio Financial Services topped the benchmark with a gain of 3.53%, while HDFC Life Insurance advanced more than 3%. Adani Enterprises also finished firmly in the green, extending gains during the session.

Buying interest was visible across financials and large-cap stocks, with Bharat Electronics, SBI Life Insurance, Tata Motors and Reliance Industries also closing among the day's top gainers.

Dr Reddy's Laboratories ended as the biggest loser on the Nifty 50, falling 2.21%. Eternal followed with a decline of 1.33%, while Bharti Airtel, Nestlé India, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise and Coal India also closed lower.

Unlike the gains, the selling remained confined to a handful of stocks, with most of the benchmark constituents ending the session in positive territory.

The broader market also witnessed strong stock-specific action.

In the Nifty Midcap 100, Indian Bank jumped 9.85% to emerge as the top gainer. Kalyan Jewellers India, One 97 Communications (Paytm), Bank of India and Godrej Properties gained between 4% and 6%.

Among the losers, Page Industries fell 1.67%, followed by Polycab India, Havells India, APL Apollo Tubes, KPIT Technologies, Astral and KEI Industries.

In the Nifty Smallcap 100, Zensar Technologies surged 13.99%, while Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (MRPL), Bandhan Bank, Central Depository Services (India) and Aarti Industries also ended with strong gains.

On the losing side, Urban Company, Ather Energy, Kaynes Technology India, Aegis Logistics and City Union Bank were among the notable laggards.

With the June-quarter earnings season gathering pace, quarterly earnings, management commentary and business updates are expected to remain the key drivers of stock-specific moves. Investors will also monitor institutional flows and sectoral trends as more companies announce their June-quarter results.
