Market Midday, 3 August 2026

Sensex and Nifty traded higher in afternoon deals as falling crude oil prices and easing Middle East tensions lifted sentiment. Broader markets were also in the positive. Read more.

The Sensex and Nifty continued to trade in the positive territory in the afternoon session following a decline in oil prices. Note that crude oil prices tumbled after US President Donald Trump said that negotiations with Iran will commence from today. At 11:52 am, the Sensex was up 0.84%. The Nifty 50 was up 0.88% at the same time.

Broader markets were also in the positive. At 11:53 am, the Nifty Midcap 100 was up 0.87%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 was up 1.31%.

Stocks of the following companies emerged as the top five performers on the Nifty 50 index at around 11:53 am:

  • Shriram Finance Ltd.

  • InterGlobe Aviation Ltd.

  • ITC Ltd.

  • Bajaj Finserv Ltd.

  • Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.

  • Blue Dart Express shares surged 6.77% in early trade after the company reported a strong Q1 FY27.

  • HFCL shares climbed 5% in early trade after the company bagged an international order worth around ₹522.73 crore.

  • Zee Entertainment Enterprises shares tumbled over 12% in early trade after the final order from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) with respect to the unauthorised pledge of immovable property case.

  • GAIL India shares tumbled 5% in intraday deals despite the company reporting a net consolidated profit of ₹4,655 crore for Q1 FY27.

With positive global and domestic cues, markets are expected to hold firm in the remaining trading hours. Traders are likely to keep tracking crude oil prices, foreign investor activity and stock-specific moves as the session progresses.
