Sensex and Nifty 50 erased morning gains and traded lower.

The Sensex and the Nifty 50 erased morning gains and traded in the red in the afternoon session. At 11:44 am, the Sensex was down 0.32%, while the Nifty 50 was down 0.23%. Broader markets were also in the red.

At 11:46 am, the Nifty Midcap 100 was down 0.01%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 was down 0.11% at the same time.

Stocks of the following companies were the top five performers on the Nifty 50 index at around 11:51 am:

  • Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.

  • Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.

  • Tech Mahindra Ltd.

  • SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.

  • ICICI Bank Ltd.

  • Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation shares surged 14% in early trade after the Supreme Court recalled its earlier observation that linked the firm to an alleged ₹4,655 crore lease-rent liability.

  • Hindustan Copper shares dropped around 3% in early trade after the government concluded its offer for sale that drew strong investor interest.

  • Capri Global shares fell nearly 3% in early trade after the company received communication from the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) imposing a penalty of ₹74,000 plus taxes.

  • Devyani International shares jumped a little over 4% in early trade after the company proposed a merger with Sapphire Foods India.

With the benchmark indices slipping into negative territory and broader markets also witnessing selling pressure, the domestic market could remain volatile in the remaining session. Investors may track stock-specific developments and global cues for further direction.
