Broader markets also closed in the red. While the Nifty Midcap 100 index declined 0.10%, the Nifty Smallcap 100 ended 0.13% lower. Sector-wise, the Nifty PSU Bank, the Nifty Oil and Gas and Nifty FMCG underperformed. On the other hand, the Nifty Private Bank, the Nifty Consumer Durables, and the Nifty Pharma outperformed (see table):

Gold and silver traded mixed on the Multi-Commodity Exchange of India (MCX). At 15:38, MCX gold prices for October futures stood at ₹1,58,465 per 10 grams, down 0.75%. MCX silver prices for September futures during the same time stood at ₹2,38,750 per kg, down 0.37%.

Crude Oil Prices Today
Crude oil prices slipped on growing hopes of reopening the Strait of Hormuz amid diplomatic efforts between Oman and Iran. At around 15:40, Brent crude oil November futures stood at $87.27 per barrel. At the same time, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil October futures stood at $82.33 per barrel.
