Benchmark indices fell significantly from the day’s highs and closed today’s session in the red. At the closing bell, the:
- BSE Sensex stood at 76,944.28, down 0.02%
- Nifty 50 stood at 24,055.80, down 0.10%
Broader markets also closed lower. The Nifty Midcap 100 closed 1.39% lower. On the other hand, the Nifty Smallcap 100 closed 0.23% lower. Sector-wise, the Nifty Healthcare, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Realty and Nifty Auto underperformed. On the other hand, the Nifty FMCG outperformed (see table).

Gold and silver traded lower on the Multi-Commodity Exchange of India (MCX). At 15:39, MCX gold prices for October futures stood at ₹1,52,600 per 10 grams, down 1.20%. MCX silver prices for September futures during the same time stood at ₹2,29,899 per kg, down 1.69%.
