Sunshine Pictures debuts with 10% NSE and 9% BSE gains after 105x IPO subscription

Sunshine Pictures debuted on the NSE and BSE on August 25 with gains of around 10% and 9% respectively over its issue price, even as broader markets slipped, after its Rs 282.14 crore IPO was subscribed over 105 times overall, backed by anchor investors including Uni Growth Fund.

Sunshine Pictures IPO Listing: Shares of Sunshine Pictures made their debut on the stock exchanges on Tuesday, August 25, opening with gains despite weakness in the broader market. The stock listed at ₹395.90 on the NSE, a premium of 9.97% over the issue price of ₹360. On the BSE, it opened at ₹394, up 9.44% from the issue price. The listing came as the Sensex and Nifty 50 slipped as much as 0.40% in early trade.

The ₹282.14-crore initial public offering was open for subscription from August 18 to August 20 and was subscribed 105.81 times overall. The qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) portion was subscribed 123.52 times, while the non-institutional investors (NIIs) quota was booked 197.04 times. The retail portion was subscribed 56.60 times. Share allotment was finalised on Friday, August 21.

The company had fixed the price band at ₹342 to ₹360 per share, with a lot size of 41 shares. At the upper end of the price band, investors needed ₹14,760 to apply for one lot. Based on the NSE listing price of ₹395.90, the value of one lot rose to ₹16,231.90, giving investors an opening gain of ₹1,471.90.

Ahead of the issue opening, Sunshine Pictures raised ₹84.64 crore from nine anchor investors on August 17, allotting 23.51 lakh shares at ₹360 apiece, the upper end of the price band. Uni Growth Fund was the largest participant in the anchor book, picking up 5.55 lakh shares worth close to ₹20 crore. Khandelwal Finance, Zeal Global Opportunities Fund, The Asia Fund VCC and Shine Star Build Cap each acquired 2.77 lakh shares worth around ₹10 crore.

The other anchor investors included Innovative Vision Fund, Arnesta Global Opportunities Fund, Visionary Value Fund and LRSD Securities.

Sunshine Pictures IPO: Issue Structure And Business

The issue consisted of a fresh issue of 48,00,034 shares worth ₹172.80 crore and an offer for sale of 30,37,157 shares aggregating to ₹109.34 crore. Of the net proceeds from the fresh issue, the company intends to deploy ₹112.50 crore towards working capital requirements. The remaining funds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Sunshine Pictures, incorporated in 2007, is a production house engaged in films, television, web shows, music and digital originals. The company began its journey with the film Force and has since produced titles such as Commando, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, The Kerala Story and Bastar.

The company has produced 13 films so far, including seven co-productions and six self-productions. Its work also includes two web series, three television serials and a short commercial film.

Sunshine Pictures currently has six films and two web series under development. These include Hisaab, co-produced with Jio Studios, and Samuk and Nanavati vs Nanavati for Amazon. These projects are slated for FY27.

On the financial front, Sunshine Pictures reported standalone revenue of ₹74.43 crore and profit of ₹40.02 crore for the financial year ended March 2026. Its standalone total comprehensive income stood at ₹40.07 crore in FY26.
