Jio IPO: What Its ₹1.47 Lakh Crore Revenue, Nearly ₹30,000 Crore Profit And Technology Platform Mean For Investors

Jio's upcoming IPO puts its ₹1.47 lakh crore revenue, nearly ₹30,000 crore profit, and expanding digital business in focus. Read more to understand its investment prospects.
Reliance Jio’s business serves more than 524 million mobility customers, over 27 million fixed broadband connections and 361.6 million monthly active app users. With revenue rising from ₹1.1 lakh crore to ₹1.47 lakh crore and profit approaching ₹30,000 crore, the company is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) that could become one of the biggest share offerings in Indian market history.
For investors, the key question is how to value Jio. Is it primarily a telecom operator, or should its digital services, enterprise business, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities also count towards its valuation? The answer could shape how investors assess the company when Jio’s IPO details are announced.
How Is Jio More Than A Telecom Company?
Jio describes itself as a technology platform, with four interconnected layers built largely in-house. These include its network, devices, operating systems and applications.
Its network includes proprietary Operations Support Systems (OSS), Business Support Systems (BSS) and a homegrown 5G stack. Its devices include JioBharat phones, set-top boxes and connected products. The operating system layer covers JioBharat OS, JioTele OS and JioReality OS.
At the application level, services such as MyJio, JioSaavn, JioTV and JioAICloud collectively account for 361.6 million monthly active users, according to the information provided.
The company also has a sizeable enterprise business. Its network serves more than 90% of state electricity distribution companies and supports over 80% of airport operations. It works with 10 of India's 12 public sector banks and 20 of the 21 private sector lenders.
What Could Jio's IPO Mean For Investors?
Jio is not just about connectivity but also includes fixed broadband, where it claims to be the world’s largest fixed wireless operator through its offering, JioAirFiber. In addition, Jio’s enterprise solutions and AI capabilities can generate another income stream for the company.
The company is also looking to take its technology stack to international markets. If successful, this could open another route to monetisation beyond its domestic customer base.
Jio’s financial performance will remain important to investors. Revenue has increased to ₹1.47 lakh crore, while profit has grown to nearly ₹30,000 crore. Leverage has also declined from 0.88 times to 0.36 times, according to the supplied figures.
In any case, the final investment thesis will have to factor in the valuation, issue price, and growth potential of the stock. It would be necessary to evaluate whether the technology and enterprise businesses of the firm have merit over and above the regular telecommunication business.
It will soon be time to look out for Jio IPO details regarding the date and price range at which the offering is made.
